I recently had the opportunity to photograph projected 2018 1st round NBA draft pick, Anfernee Simons for SLAM Magazine. I met up with with Anfernee down in Bradenton, FL at the IMG Academy. Anfernee recently declared he is foregoing his NCAA eligibility to go straight into the pros. Simons was a humble and easy to work with. In about 90 minutes, we were able to shoot quite a few different scenes. Check out some of the images!
I have been loving the opportunities to shoot for SLAM magazine. I grew up playing basketball so now being able to photograph some of the top players in the nation is pretty rad. Darius Garland was a blast to photograph up in Brentwood, TN which is just south of Nashville. Darius was a super funny kid and kept the shoot pretty lighthearted. He is committed to play at Vanderbilt this fall. I went out on a limb during the shoot to try something new. I had my assistant John Mofield paint Darius with a red gelled flashlight while I dragged the shutter on the camera and popped the strobes at the end of the shot to freeze him. We didn't have much time to play around with it so I only had a few chances with it. I was super excited to see that the magazine liked it enough to use in print. Let me know what you think.
